Can you help me find a good gaming PC laptop made by a good company?

My son's grandparents are buying him a PC laptop as a high school graduation present. Naturally he wants a good gaming laptop. (He needs it to be a laptop, not a desktop because he will also use it for college.) We want to deal with a reputable (not fly-by-night) company, with good customer service. At our house we have Macs, so we know little about PC makers. He turns up his nose at Dell. Are there any PC ratings sites I should know about? Help me sort through all this info!
