Is a sales major reputable?

Sales is probably the most lucrative career for a business major. Sales is not for everyone for there is a lot of pressure and rejection to deal with but the rewards can be very rewarding. Although we think of the stockbrokers who make millions a years as being in finance they are really in sales. Even if you do not go into sales or stay with sales what you will learn will be helpful to you no matter what career you choose. It sounds like sales would be a minor or a second degree so you would list as a major in business with a minor in sales or Dual degree in business management and sales. Sounds good to me. In my opinion sales gets a bad rap because to of the high pressure arm twisting tactics of the old door-to-door and used car sales force. In reality sales is the most important part of any business. No matter how good your product there is no profit unless you sell something. I highly recommend that you take the sales courses, you can decide later if and how to list it on your resume.
